More experiments...

The weather was so nice on Saturday! Any normal person would have thought: "great! let's go out for a walk or a picnic in the park".Me? I thought: "great! I am going to try the resine I bought earlier this week!!". So I put everything out of the table in the garden and got started.
I bought the Crystal Glass Resin from Cleopatre and they didn't lie: it doesn't smell so waiting for nice weather was pointless.

Anyway, it's not dry yet but I was so impatient that I had to check it out lol
The pics are not great as it is clear on white but it gives an idea.

I played with glass paint and started to put some slices of a cane and then, put a flower in it instead. I didn't know you don't put a fresh flower in resin as it gets all...weird

I like this picture because it shows the way the paint turned out in the resin. Really like it.

The other pieces with the fimo in them were not dry yet so could not even touch them. I have to think of a way to mount them now. I'm thinking...pendants!

That's all for today :-)

New necklace

Although now that it's done, I think I'm going to change it: not so sure about the way I've put it together anymore.

and the other bead (a strawberry, Petit Poucet style)

That's all for today :-)
Hope you had a nice weekend (must have, with this gorgeous weather!)

Sunday 18 March 2012

I can't stand the rain, against my window...

what a lousy Sunday: it rained almost non stop. Hard to believe that we had blue sky and sun yesterday.

Anywho, here is my latest work.

A cuff bracelet (recognise the roses on it? lol)

and a necklace: this is the experiment from last weekend. I tried to make some sort of fabric effect. I am happy with the result. I mounted it on waxed cord using chinese button knots. I have also made two long beads so that it would not look too...empty, and closed it with sliding knots.

That's all for today :-)

Interlude...

No fimo today BUT it is justified :-)
Since I have left my lovely Marks and Spencers' one in the storage box *sad face*, I've had to look for a new lunch bag: it seems like it is mission impossible to find one.
Tuesday I went to the craft shop at lunch time, saw some felt and thought: "I'm sure I can do this! Or at least try..."
I started Tuesday night and finished last night. In all it took me about 5-6 hours. The only thing I didn't do myself is the cutlery. I cut and saw everything else (yes, it is a muffin on the bottom right corner which needs a little more work to be done on lol)

I am very, VERY proud of my work and can't stop looking at it :-) I felt like kids when they go back to school and are excited about showing their new bag!

Here's the work of art :-)

That's all for today :-)

Experiments...

I've had so many ideas this week and foolishly thought I would be able to do everything in two days over the weekend....buuuut...no!Although today has been a fimo marathon, yesterday wasn't. I started but then my sister asked me if I wanted to go out to the shops with her and I chose to have a moment out with her rather than staying in. And it was cool in the end, I had a good time and good laughs so it was worth it. In the process, I also stopped in a shop and found two great books which will help me with my projects. But I will talk about them later.

I experimented today and I am quite excited about the final results. I hope I will manage to find the time to do that this week as I am really curious to see if it will look nice or terribly wrong lol

In the meantime, just like at the movies, here is a little teaser of what I have been doing:

Hope you've all had a great weekend!
That's all for today :-)

Nice weekend...

It was indeed. I spent Saturday with my niece: we had some good laughs. In the evening, we celebrated our birthdays with the family. For the occasion, I made some earrings to wear. I used what was left of the mokume gane I made last weekend. First, I wanted to make a pair of pendant earrings but when I started putting them together, I decided to make two different pairs instead.

Then, I also finished the necklace for my twin. I made some beads with scrap clay which I cured. Then I dipped them in glass paint. Let them dry for 2/3 days and...voila! The only thing is, as the scrap clay was dark, the green came out right but the dark yellow came out brownish...I still like the colour though.
My sister liked the necklace (sorry for the poor lighting. It was sunny but could not get the right angle)

The one part she didn't like was the central bead. I made a pumkin bead (from Roberta Mohar's tutorial) which I found cute, but she really didn't like it lol

I've put it in a really cute box I got (ok...ok...it is a sushi box BUT it is very cute!) which I filled with some of her fav sweets (hadn't seen those since secondary school). THOSE, she loved for sure...all of them!

That's all for today :-)

Tiredness...

Sometimes it strikes you...hard! I am still in that phase which is why this post is going to be super short :-) I need my beauty sleep...or at least some sleep!

Here is another bracelet I made: yes, as well as flowers and purple, I also seem to like flat rounded beads at the moment (I have no idea what this shape is called lol)

That's all for today :-)

Oh! and in case you were wondering....he did read the blog on Wednesday and I got my belated "Happy Birthday". Men.....
